Tips on Achieving Timeless Wedding Make-Up
There are many special events and occasions for which we dress up and where we take photos, but unless it is your wedding day, the chances are that you will not look back at these photos that often or display many photos from the event in your home. Your wedding photos will stay with you forever, and you do not want to regret your choices years down the line. Here are a few tips that we have put together to help you get a more timeless look.
- Do Not Blindly Follow the Latest Trends
Have you ever looked at someone’s wedding photos, and based on the way they did their make-up you could tell which decade they got married in? Perhaps the bright eyeshadow and very red cheeks immediately screamed “80s wedding.”
When you use the latest trends, you need to be aware that these trends could go out of style quickly. While contouring and microbladed eyebrows are very popular now, it might not be in the future. Contouring, when done well, is great, but when it has not been done properly, and you can see the contour lines on the photos, you might have some regrets.
2. Try to Look Like You on Your Big Day
If you are someone who always wears your hair down, you might not want to opt for an updo on your wedding day. If you always wear more neutral tones when doing your make-up, do not go for bright and bold colours on your wedding day. The person you are choosing to marry probably likes the way you normally look. Of course, you can put in more effort and have your hair and make-up done professionally for the big day, but choose a make-up look and hairdo that is similar to your normal style.
3. Be Open About Any Changes You Want
Usually, brides go for hair and make-up test runs before getting married. If there is something you want to change, don’t be afraid to speak up. The same applies to your hair. If you are not 100% happy with your hairstyle, then you can ask your stylist to change it for you.
Another thing to remember is that when you have the hair and make-up you want, take pictures and show it to your make-up artist and hairstylist before they start on the big day. They might not remember what was done during the test run and might do something completely different on your wedding day.
We highly recommend that you follow these tips for a timeless look and to minimise any regrets.
