Eyebrow Shaping: The Right Arch Shape for Your Face

Eyebrow Shaping - Face to FaceStuck with a rogue set of bushy brows and in need of some weed whacking, or maybe you’ve gotten way too friendly with your tweezers, leaving you with thin, over-plucked arches that make you feel unattractive. Eyebrows are one of the most prominent facial features because of the many functions they perform. A well-groomed set of brows not only knocks off years, but it is the easiest way to flaunt your favourite features.

Your arches have the power to highlight your eyes and shape your face, correcting facial flaws and adding youthfulness. The first rule of brow shaping is to know what brow suits your face shape. Unless you have jumped on the microblading bandwagon, here is how a well-defined brow can alter your appearance.

  • Round-Shaped Face—a round face like Cameron Diaz demands sharp arches, lifting everything upwards instead of outwards. Also, take the time to groom your hairs upwards as this will lengthen your face.
  • Oval-Shaped Face—an oval face like Beyoncé demands flat-angled brows to balance out facial features.
  • Heart-Shaped Face—a heart-shaped face like Scarlett Johansson demands soft, round brows as this draws attention from the forehead, softening facial features.
  • Square-Shaped Face—a square face like Angelina Jolie demands thick and flat brows with a strong arch. That draws attention to the eyes and brows, adding balance to square features.

Makeup is a beautiful thing, but what’s even better is learning how to use it to your advantage. Learning to shape your brows according to your shape-face is a learned skill that will bring you confidence. If you would like to attend a Saturday morning workshop on eyebrow shaping, get in touch with Face to Face Makeup & Beauty School. As one of the top makeup schools in South Africa, our brow-shaping workshop also includes eyelash applications, contouring, and day-and-night makeup techniques.
