Eyebrow ShapingEyebrow Shaping Techniques to Flatter and Inspire

They say that the eyes are the window to the soul. If that’s the case, then the eyebrows are the window frames, and they need some attention. With so many shapes and styles to choose from in the shaping arena, however, many feel at a loss with regard to shapes, colours, and styles. This is why it’s important to learn about the different techniques and styles that have shaped the art of eyebrow shaping.

Over the years, numerous eyebrow-shaping trends have emerged. In the 1920s, it was all about thin, downwardly arched brows. In the 1940s, bold and natural brows were the order of the day. Roll in the 1960s and they were small and unassuming, taking backstage to large, chunky lashes. Then came the 80s and big, bold brows dominated the scene. By the early 2000s it was all about thin brows, and then in the mid-2000s natural brows once again made a comeback. In 2022, with so many styles around, many people opt to shape their brows in a way that best suits their features. Therefore, so many people opt to visit eyebrow shaping specialists when it comes to this important feature and there are several techniques, including:

  • Plucking:

Plucking entails using tweezers to extract individual hairs. It is usually best reserved to pluck stray hairs since it can be time-consuming and challenging to create a balance between both brows.

  • Waxing:

Hair is removed by the root when hot wax is applied and ripped off. Since hair is pulled out, the effects last for up to a month. However, some redness might ensue as it is a sensitive area.

  • Threading:

This Asian technique uses twisted cotton thread and pulls it along the hairline to remove rows of hair. It acts much like plucking but can remove entire rows at once. Unlike waxing, threading doesn’t touch the skin and is a gentler approach for those with sensitivities.
