Beauty Therapy Courses
Beauty Therapy Courses for an International Career
If you have decided to embark on a career in beauty therapy, you will want to ensure that the courses which you undertake are valid, recognised and accredited at the very least locally, but ideally internationally, since you may want or need to earn a living abroad at some stage in the future.
Beauty therapy, the demand for credible aesthetics courses and the industry as a whole continues to develop and grow. In fact, even during the global recession of 2008, the beauty industry has been one of few to continue on a growth pattern, seemingly undeterred by tough economic conditions and less consumer disposable income in general.
A Diploma for Each Section
As South Africa’s only nationally and internationally accredited beauty and make-up design school and special effects training academy, we proudly offer beauty therapy courses. They require three years of study, which are sequential and progressive, although a diploma is issued to successful candidates upon completion of each course.
By sitting for examinations at the conclusion of each study module and receiving a diploma, students have the peace of mind that they have that particular qualification under their belt in the event that their studies are interrupted, and they are still entitled to work and earn a living at the level at which they’ve qualified.
Year One – Beauty Specialist
One year’s full time study equips students with primary practical and theoretical knowledge and understanding of the latest electrical body and skin care therapies, which they will be able to perform on clients.
They will also have been trained to utilise waxing techniques, undertake manicures and pedicures and apply make-up for various diverse occasions. Once the required first year competencies have been completed satisfactorily, learners may apply for completion of four internationally recognised ITEC certifications – Beauty Specialist, waxing, pedicure and manicure, and make-up.
Second Year – Body Therapy
In year two, one year’s full time study is required, which is an extension and progression following on from the first year, and deals with more advanced, in-depth therapeutic treatments for clients with more complex requirements. Practical clinic experience is introduced, as is sales and marketing, essential aspects in order understand business.
Providing students have all the required credits for both first and second year’s studies, they qualify for our institute’s Health and Skincare Diploma and an international diploma in Health and Skincare Therapy. We recommend that learners also sit for the internationally accredited diploma examinations of CIDESCO and ITEC, enabling them to work overseas.
Third Year – Spa Therapy
Upon completion of this year’s curriculum, learners may choose to take up employment at a medical spa or as an assistant at a cosmetic surgery practice, since this module is quite specialised and includes various spa therapeutic treatments, massage techniques and the ITEC level subjects which are not integrated in the first and second years’ content.
Nevertheless, students must have completed both earlier years before being admitted to the third year’s curriculum. On conclusion of their spa therapy year, learners are encouraged to apply to write the CIDESCO Spa Therapy and ITEC Spa Treatments examinations for international accreditation.
Wide Career Choice
Your career choices are almost as wide as the world, just as your working opportunities will be if you’ve studied at our academy, the longest established specialist training school in SA offering national and international accreditation and outstanding, professional beauty therapy courses.
