Beauty Therapy Courses for Aspiring Professional Practitioners
Beauty therapy has become a very prestigious occupation – that is, providing you’ve completed the required courses at an equally highly regarded college, which offers top-notch education and training with widely recognised and accredited qualifications.
This begs the question – where do you find such a beauty therapy school providing the above-mentioned courses and qualifications? Does this mean that you have to have lots of money, leave your family and loved ones behind and study overseas?
No, that’s not at all necessary. You may decide to spread your wings, travel and work abroad, once you’ve completed your studies and been awarded your qualification and accreditation, but you don’t have to undergo your tuition far away from home and familiar surroundings. You can study with us, right on your doorstep, in Gauteng.
Two Gauteng Campuses
Our exclusive beauty, make-up design and special effects college is situated at two campuses, one in Parktown, Johannesburg and the other in Helderkruin, Roodepoort.
Half a Century Ago
It’s sometimes hard to believe that it all started for us fifty years (half a century) ago, when Mrs Rhona Greaves, our beloved and highly respected ancestor, established our academy for the purpose of training beauty professionals locally, to top world-class standards, a highly successful venture, as it happens.
As a privately owned education and training institution, our school still remains in the capable hands of the same family which founded it, so many years ago, and we’ve gone from strength to strength.
Today, we’re the only academy of our kind in South Africa to enjoy reputable national and international recognition and accreditation, so essential for our learners too, particularly if they wish to become professional practitioners in their chosen career specialities.
Specialised Beauty Therapy Courses
The full curriculum to becoming a highly qualified beauty therapist spans a three year period – three years of full-time study. However, a diploma is issued to successful graduates at the end of each year, ideal for those who need to interrupt their studies for some reason.
This also means that each year’s qualification can stand alone, as it were. Nevertheless, the second or third year course cannot be undertaken without completing and passing the previous year’s course.
• 1st year – Beauty Specialist – learn the fundamentals of beauty and skin care therapy, theoretically and practically, and the full complement of therapies which a health and skin care therapist must be able to perform.
• 2nd year – Body Therapy – extends and further develops what was learned during the 1st year, incorporating more complex therapies, advanced massage techniques, advanced body and facial treatments, as well as Thalasso, Phyto and hydrotherapy treatments.
• 3rd year – Spa Therapy – ideal for those who wish to specialise in working with cosmetic surgeons and/or at a medical spa. The specialised qualifications stand apart from those gained in the 1st and 2nd year and enable the learner to remain up to date in the rapidly developing skin and health care field.
