Exciting Hairdressing Trends in South Africa
Everything from the latest products and technologies, to the most flattering styles and trends, you need to stay up to date with what’s happening in the hairdressing industry if you want to retain a competitive edge among your competitors. Failure to do so may leave you out in the cold, as you see your clients trot off to your competitor next door. Here are some tips:
#1 The Oil for Everyone
It’s all well and good hearing top hairdressers extol the virtues of using oil to get the perfect shine, manageability and condition, but if your clients have fine hair that gets greasy quickly, it’s an understandably tough sell. Quick fix: buy an oil formulated for fine hair that won’t weigh sensitive clients’ hair down.
#2 The Braid
Braids are in this year, thanks to many beautiful celebs sporting this look on the red carpets. Expect French plaits to be big news this year.
2016 saw make-up artists ditch contouring for “strobing,” the flattering highlighting that sculpts the face. Now, there seems to be “strobing for hair,” made up of a smattering of subtle golden tones around the face to mimic the effect of light falling on the locks, even when there is no sunshine around.
#4 Condition First
Do you want to achieve more volume without compromising on texture? Soft, smooth and manageable hair is achieved by conditioning first, and shampooing after, thus preventing hair from being weighed down by residue.
