Insightful Eye Make-Up Techniques That Will Set Your Clients Apart
Every make-up artist is always looking for an edge, something different that sets their clients apart. However, it all starts with getting to grips with the basics first. This is why it is always advisable to start with a foundational course that explains the basic eye make-up techniques that every artist should master before branching out on their own.
Fuelling your journey towards leaving your mark on the beauty industry, we have compiled a list of some trendsetting techniques to keep in mind when applying eye make-up to your clients. These trends are set to stay around for a while, so if you master these techniques, you will always have something in your arsenal that will WOW even the most difficult client.
Using Highlights for Emphasis
You can use the placement of highlights to your client’s advantage when trying to create a naturally beautiful eyes. The lighter colours available to you, such as pearls, creams and whites, should be applied to the inner corners, as well as the middle of the eye, and just under the brow bone. After applying the lightest colours first, move onto the darker shades.
Keep in mind that as important as your colour choices are, the placement of your liners and shadows is just as critical if you want to make the best of your client’s eye shape. As a make-up artist, you can create just about any illusion that you want. With carefully planned placement, you can make your client’s eyes appear wider and closer set, or more prominent and deeper set, etc. Start by determining what eye shape your client has, and then proceed to accentuate it accordingly.
If you want to make your client’s eyes appear bigger than they are, then you have a whole bag of tricks to pull from. If you don’t already own a nude pencil, make this important investment in your make-up arsenal. Instead of lining your client’s water line with a dark eyeliner, use a nude pencil as this helps to create the illusion of a bigger eye.
