Choosing the Best Foundation for Bridal Make-Up

Just like shoes and jeans, foundation is a difficult thing to shop for. This is especially true when you’re shopping for your clients, as you can’t buy a large stock list of your favourite foundation and use it on every single bride. It is highly likely that most of your bridal clients will have different complexions.

Heavy coverage, light coverage, yellow undertones, pink undertones, liquid, powder, mousse, cushion… the list goes on and on in the quest for finding the perfect foundation. So how can you choose the best foundation for your bridal client? It’s not an easy quest, but you will get there. When you do, don’t forget these top tips.

#1 Try Foundation On

Always try a foundation on in store. It’s so tricky colour matching your client from photos on the internet, so make an appointment with her, pop to a beauty counter and get the right foundation. Leading brands like Estée Lauder even have special gadgets that can help you in your quest of matching your client with the perfect shade of foundation.

#2 Wait a Second

Never buy a foundation straight after trying it on your bride. Allow it to “cook” on the face for 20 to 30 minutes before making a final decision. Harsh mall lighting paired with any oxidisation that might occur means that the foundation may look different once it has been on the face for a while.

#4 Don’t Be Fooled

Resist being fooled by the price tag, and remind your client of the same. The most expensive foundations aren’t always the best.
